Amazing to me some men will comment how Beyonce “man bashes” meanwhile ignoring the 5690486498 songs she has about “catering to you” and “I love my man, he’s the greatest” etc. but somehow, someway remain pin silent on all the male rappers and singers who are CONSISTENTLY calling their mamas, grandmas, cousins, aunts, sister, girlfriends and wives sluts, hos and bitches 50-11 ways to Sunday. And will recite every last word of it and it’s ALLLL cool. Ya’ll got life so twisted it’s disgusting.

I think my father’s turning into a feminist

We keep having these great discussions about patriarchy and machismo and he GOES IN on how horrible it is and how a lot of men subjugate women without batting an eyelash. On our convo about machismo, I asked him why he and my mother never held those “standards” over us and he shrugged and said we just didn’t, it’s just ridiculous. We were going over (specifically about Panama) how men can do whatever the hell they want, drink, make 506804986 kids (and not take care of them), gamble, go out, be irresponsible, abusive, (with slim to NO repercussions) but let a woman go to a bar she’s sucia, mujer de la noche, BURN HER AT THE STAKE. He said it’s changing and it’s good it is. <3

Just a reminder…

Patriarchy (rule by fathers) is a social system in which the male is the primary authority figure central to social organization and the central roles of political leadership, moral authority, and control of property, and where fathers hold authority over women and children. It implies the institutions of male rule and privilege, and entails female subordination. Many patriarchal societies are also patrilineal, meaning that property and title are inherited by the male lineage. The female equivalent is matriarchy.

Historically, patriarchy has manifested itself in the social, legal, political, and economic organization of a range of different cultures. Patriarchy also has a strong influence on modern civilization, although many cultures have moved towards a more egalitarian social system over the past century.

Intersectionality Matters

I continuously observe these (supposed) “social justice” “race warriors” “pro-Black” “Afro-centric” “Black is Beautiful” men spread their sexism, spew their misogyny and deny patriarchy. It’s interesting. And by interesting I mean deplorable and disgusting and stay far the hell away from me.
