Documentary: African Blood, Sangre Africana

Mexican identity is assumed to be the fusion between indigenous and European cultures. However, this definition excludes a very important component: our African blood.
This documentary will bring us closer to these forgotten roots, through testimonies, reflections and powerful cultural expressions made out by brothers and sisters who live in the Costa Chica region in the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero.
These are the people who carry a great legacy: the afro mestizo, or Afro Mexican culture. Their struggle to strengthen and claim their own identity makes the wide diversity of cultures in Mexico even greater.
